The emphasis of this practice is upon family and property matters. If a task falls outside my areas of practice, I refer my clients to the best possible person to do the job. Rather than hanging on and providing a second-rate service, such treatment ensures that my clients have confidence to return to me.
My basis of charging for attendances is available on this site. Also, I have committed myself to low fees in a number of standard transactions. More complex matters will need to be discussed as we go along, but are always billed on the basis of reasonable time and attendances of a lawyer working efficiently. My general charge-out rate has remained very low since I have been building my legal practice. It is supplemented by a regime of Office Service Charges which are intended to allocate stationery and telephone costs on something of a user-pays basis. Whatever happens, reasonable and affordable legal costs will remain the cornerstone of this law office.
My recent background is in family law and property matters, though I am keen to build up several other areas, including immigration and employment law. The complexity of modern life tends to tie us all up, and many issues are linked in ways that sometimes might not be readily apparent. Nowadays one small incident or change can cause a cluster of legal issues to arise.
From time to time I will be adding to or altering the pages on this website, to discuss notable issues or to advertise some aspect of legal services. Please accept my apologies if, occasionally, there might be an anticipated link that is not yet working. Some issues for discussion that spring to mind are the importance of having a current Will and, especially for folk who are aging, Enduring Powers of Attorney. And, after what happened to Terri Schiavo (in 2005), anyone with the foresight to create Enduring Powers of Attorney will surely also consider making an Advance Directive (otherwise known as a "Living Will").
You are welcome to visit my office in central Wellington. But sometimes it isn't easy to get into the city so I am happy to come to your home (or any other venue in Wellington, and as far afield as the Kapiti Coast or Upper Hutt) at no additional cost.
